BREAST RECONSTRUCTION
Breast Reconstruction is the most rewarding surgical procedure. This
procedure helps a woman to regain shape and the fullness of breasts
following breast removal (mastectomy).
In most cases breast reconstruction is performed after you have healed
from your mastectomy.
- The procedure is performed as an outpatient procedure and takes
approximately 3 hours.
- You can expect moderate to severe pain for the first 3 to 5 days
following the surgery.
- You must have a driver available for transportation from the surgery
center.
Risks and Complications
Some risks and complications of the reconstruction can be… bleeding,
infection, swelling, excessive scarring, fluid collection or capsular
contracture.
Implant Types
Dr. Harlan has several different types of saline & silicone implants
available for his patients. The type used for this procedure is your
decision.
